Matt got a spare ticket so I could come along to the new Errol Morris film playing at the international film festival. I have such a brain crush on Morris.

Have you seen his other films? He's my favorite documentarian. They're all great, but especially, "The Fog of War," "Mr. Death," and "Fast Cheap and Out of Control".

Roger Ebert believes his first film, "Gates of Heaven," is one of the ten greatest films of all time. It's a hard one to find the brilliance in, but I've seen it 3 or 4 times now and it grows on me every time.

Oh yeah, the other thing I forgot to mention: he did a documentary TV show for Bravo a few years ago called First Person that lasted a couple of seasons. The interviews are fascinating.

If nothing else, get the first disc of that series and watch the episode entitled "Stairway to Heaven." I won't even tell you what it's about except to say that it's one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life. True art. AND, he uses one of the songs from Selected Ambient Works Volume II throughout it.

The jealousy I feel for your cinematic privilege is tempered only by the knowledge that every good Morris film makes it to me eventually.
