Brad and I are going to California for another meeting, again about the new indeterminately-named weblog syndication/storage format/API/kitchen sink. I’ve been working on LiveJournal support for it.

We may get to meet [info]jwz. Thinking back, I’m pretty sure that reading his gruntle page back in high school was one of the major influences on the sort of person I became—I had few or no other role models of computer geeks who were both intelligent and “cool”.

It’s sort of ironic that we both ended up on the AOL of weblogs, but I like to think LJ is different.
Maybe livejournal.com:livejournal.org::aol.com:mozilla.org? There are some parallels.

We’ll be back Thursday.

LiveJournal ≠ AOL. AOL sucks not because it's easy to use but because it's a corporate Disneyland. LJ's content belongs entirely to its users, and is built by some of those same users. That rocks.

i'm at an atom biz meeting right now. aol had like six people show up... they're maybe 20% of the population here. the ibm people just used "synergy" on a slide. i thought about you aim'ing on your hiptop.

still not sure about dinner.
